For families with a parent in memory care

I stopped believing in good days. Then Tuesday happened.

You don’t have to be a believer. The good days in dementia are real and measurable — and a former Space Shuttle Chief Engineer wrote a free, honest book on the science of why they happen, and how to help them happen more often.

I’m not someone who believes in much, and I definitely didn’t believe we’d get a good day back. Then she finished a whole story at dinner, start to end, like the old her. I pulled over on the way home just to breathe. The good days are real — and there’s actual science about why they happen, and how to help them happen more often.

What this book will never claim.

It will not tell you this is a cure for Alzheimer’s or dementia — because it isn’t, and the author says so on the first pages. The losses cognitive decline causes are real. What the book argues is more modest, and more useful: that the people living with those losses have more good moments available to them than current care supports, and that safe, practical, evidence-backed tools now exist to help. You’re invited to evaluate the case yourself.

Voices from the Phase 1 study

“For myself, as her caregiver, that is a very large blessing. I have more patience and sleep more deeply.”

— Susan R., Study Participant

“I have been calmer and sleeping better.”

— Study Participant

“Helping my sleep every night without taking melatonin.”

— Flora W., Study Participant
